Concours D’Elegance is held within the magnificent grounds of the Hurlingham Club and has a rich 20 year heritage, drawing together some of the world’s most exclusive brands for a grand three day event in celebration of everything that epitomises luxury.
Kevin was asked to host the 2011 live event by organiser and CEO of GP Management Jonny Dodge. The specialised team at GP Management bring a wealth of experience across the sports, entertainment and corporate field and are responsible for some of the highest profile, glamorous and ‘fun’ events on the social calendar including The Grand Prix Drivers Ball and The Dodgeball Rally.
Whilst hosting the live event Kevin was responsible for the ‘Live Theatre’ and general announcements throughout the day including the live and recorded interviews of the VIP’s attending the exclusive event set in the 42 acres of The Hurlingham Club in the heart of South West London.
The event focussed on the height of luxury from the world’s best within the automotive, aviation and marine industries with other patrons and exhibitors including those from the world of fashion and jewellery design including the creations of former International model Sandra Martial from Offshore Limited, whose fabulous timepieces were kindly donated as awards for the ‘Concours Event’ where some of the world’s most priceless and rare motor vehicles were judged in different categories according to their age and design class.
The vintage cars were organised and put on show thanks to The 96 Club, which was founded in 1976 by Michael Scott and Ray Bellm, whose aim is to create exclusive and prestigious motoring events for performance car enthusiasts. They organized the UK’s first ever track day, at Silverstone, (just after the 70mph speed limit was introduced), with the two 96 Club Patrons Derek Bell MBE and Sir Stirling Moss. Michael was on hand throughout the Concours event to add his knowledge and love of all things automotive to Kevin as the finalists were shortlisted and finally announced.
While Concours D’Elegance was the definitive luxury lifestyle event, it also was a partner of ’The Christchurch Appeal‘ whose work is dedicated to rebuilding the lives of those who have suffered tragedy and loss in New Zealand as a result of the earthquake that struck the region on February 22nd of this year and where since then there have been seven thousand aftershocks on an almost daily basis. The appeal was kindly supported over the three day event by New Zealand Ambassador, His Excellency Dr Derek Leask, Dame Judith Mayhew DBE, Ex New Zealand Rugby Star Zin Zan Brooke and Katherine Corich, Founder and Director of the SYSDOC group who are fully involved with the appeal.
